Triazines are six-membered aromatic heterocycles containing three nitrogen atoms in the ring.
According to the arrangement of the endocyclic nitrogen atoms, there are three types of triazines: 1,2,3-triazines, 1,2,4-triazines, and 1,3,5-triazines. 1,3,5-triazines are also called sym-triazines (symmetrical triazines), 1,2,4-triazines are asym-triazines (unsymmetrical triazines), and 1,2,3-triazines are vicinal triazines (vicinal triazines).
